Is senior/sophomore dating weird?

I was wondering, is it? At my school it was common, but overall, what are thoughts on it?

In my opinion it's not uncommon. In terms of how acceptable it is, again I would say that it's acceptable so long as both people are at the same level of maturity. I was dating a senior guy as a junior and if anything I feel like I was the more mature of us both, and I feel like our age difference didn't impact our relationship at all, except for the knowledge that he would be graduating soon so it felt a bit rushed for me. I think that what matters most in a relationship is the maturity of those involved and their experience and awareness in relationships, and although age can be a rough indicator of these things there is definitely a margin of error and flexibility.

I don't really think it is unacceptable but I do think that both parties need to be aware of consent laws in their state/town because at some point the senior is going to turn 18 and usually any type of sexual activity with a minor is considered statutory rape. However, I have seen senior/sophmore's date back when I was in high school and it didn't seem weird.

I agree that both people would have to have the same level of maturity. But, there are a lot of mature sophmore's out there.

No, it isn't.

In my opinion, it's not weird at all. Assuming consent laws are obeyed if the younger person is a minor, my view is that a healthy relationship doesn't rely on the age of both people but rather the personal maturity of both people involved, how compatible they are personality-wise, and that they have genuine love and respect for each other.

I don't think it's weird, but like the others said, you have to be aware of laws for once the senior turns 18, and having the same level of maturity as each other. You also have to make sure that the sophomore isn't just doing it for the attention and popularity, and the senior isn't doing it just to have authority over a person. A lot of factors come into school relationships, but overall it isn't weird or unacceptable.

Not weird or wrong to me. I've personally considered it but didn't follow through for unrelated reasons.

I don't see any problem with it. To me age isn't a huge deal (unless it's a huge gap) but I was never concerned about age when dating.

2-3 years isn't a bad thing. But be careful of consent laws because if the senior is 18 in a lot of places they could get charged with stagatory rape
