what to say to a pregnant woman? -
March 24th 2012, 09:03 PM
so I'm at the stage in my life where there are a few of my friends who are pregnant or married and pregnant. I'm never sure what to tell them when I first see them.
I have a feeling that if I say 'You look great!' or 'look at you! you look like a fertility goddess' it wouldn't come out right, they would think I'm lying or they might not take it they way I meant it. I know pregnancy is not the most comfortable or happy time for a woman, so I don't want to say anything that will make it worse.
so my question is, if you saw a friend that you hadn't seen in a while, what would be the most complimentary comment they could make about your pregnancy?

Just tell them congratulations. Talk to them about what they're doing with the baby, how their boyfriend/husband reacted. Normal things. Ask about names, and tell them that they aren't even showing. Either that, or have a casual conversation with them like you would even if they weren't pregnant.
Just a girl with an angel above, just a girl with an angel to love. My angel grew wings and she did dare to fly. But I promise my angel, it's only good night but never good-bye. My angel, my angel in heaven above. My angel, my darling, you'll always have my love. Rest in peace, my sweet darling, it's only temporary that we part. My angel, my angel, how you still do steal my heart </3

Being pregnant myself saying you look great is fine. But usually a pregnant glow compliment is good.

Just congratulate them. Ask them questions about the baby, like the due date and if they know what the gender of the child will be. Just showing them that you're interested is a compliment in and of itself. As Jennifer said, saying that they're glowing always works, too.

I would just congratulate them, ask about the due date, if they've thought of any names yet. Also, I've never been pregnant myself, but every woman I've ever said "You look great" to in the early stages of their pregnancy has always responded well.

I agree with Jennifer. Saying that they look great is always a good compliment. I love hearing that I look great or how I always look like I have that beautiful pregnant glow. It's definitely a confidence booster and makes you show off that smile/glow even more!
I've been through hell and back and came out stronger than ever.
