What are the chances of being pregnant if...
I was in the hospital for a couple of weeks, so my bf and I were pretty eager to get busy again after my release. What are the chances I might be pregnant if:
-If was either during or just a day or two after ovulation started when sexual activity first resumed -No protection whatsoever was used -ejaculation occurred inside the female - sex happened multiple times each day for about a week following the first encounter -the female is eighteen years old and is only an occasional smoker I realize I shouldn't worry about this stuff unless I miss a period, but I mentioned it to a friend and they are rather worried for me, saying there is a higher risk I might be pregnant. Is this true? Should I be a little concerned? |
Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
There is a 50/50 chance that you may be pregnant if no contraception was used. There is always going to be a risk of pregnancy if no method of contraception was used, no matter when you have sex.

Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
Wow...are you TRYING to get pregnant? Yeah you might be pregnant, about fourteen days from when you think you may have conceived, take a home pregnancy test.

Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
Yep... It's a possibility. Wait to see if you miss your period and then take a test. I mean, having unprotected sex, on or around your time of ovulation, leaves a pretty fair chance of pregnancy. But don't worry yourself. Just wait and see what happens.

Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
Even if you were just on birth control? I thought you had to have a few months coming off of birth control before you could actually conceive (not that that was a factor in out choices protection wise while we had sex).

Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
I've always been told that as soon as you stop taking birth control, you can get pregnant again ...
I'd second other people, if you miss your period you should probably take a test. |
Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
It's definitely possible that you are pregnant. Anytime you have sex there is the possibility you could get pregnant, regardless of whether you use protection or not (including birth control). Take a test 10-14 days after you had sex and see what it says. Try not to worry too much until you miss a period.

Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
you can get pregnant the day you miss a pill. that is why you are supposed to take them around the same time everyday. If you don't want to get pregnant you should wear protection or use some form of birth control.

Another question: How soon can your nipples be sore if you are pregnant? I know that can be a symptom of pregnancy (and also my period, although its a little early for that, and also many other things), but I was jw.

Oh dear. Well this does not bode well. My period is supposed to be due this week, so I suppose all I can do is wait and see. I didn't realize they could get sore that fast, Chelsey, I thought it was a while (as in eight to twelve weeks) before that happened if one was pregnant. What made you think you were before you even missed a period, if you don't mind my asking?

And, to be honest, before I missed my period, I never thought that I was pregnant. It's my husband who kept telling me that I was. He said he just "knew" that I was pregnant. So it came time for my period to come... It didn't, so he brought me a couple tests home after he got off work one morning, I took one, and there were two lines, so he was right. I have no idea how he knew, but he was right. |
Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
Wow, that is strange in an almost cool way. I have no idea if I am or not; I don't "feel" pregnant and my nipples usually are sore before my period, but according to this thread people seem to agree there is a high(er) likelihood. It's still possible I somehow could NOT be though, right? Despite the odds, what about those people who try for months with all the above conditions and never conceive?

I didn't feel pregnant before I knew I was. I just felt like it was definitely time for a period. The early signs of pregnancy are a lot like signs that it's near time for your period. To be honest, I didn't really feel, physically, pregnant until I knew that there was a baby in there, which was confirmed for me by the ultrasound. I mean, I had the morning sickness and stuff, but it just didn't really click in my mind until I saw the baby in there that I'm pregnant. |
Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
Even after only, like, then days? How long does it take for things to get started working in there, if you know what I mean?

How long until it fastens into the uterine wall and symptoms show up is what I meant.

Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
Oh, okay.
I found a website that says that implantation occurs 6 to 10 days after ovulation, so it's about a week or a little more than a week. Here is the website if you'd like to look: http://www.thebabycorner.com/page/1260/ |
Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
So therorectically could that be why my nipples are sore right now? It is ten days after ovulation occurred......

Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
If you're pregnant, yeah, it could be why. If you're not, it could be your body getting used to being off of birth control again or getting ready for your period. But, again, just wait until your period is due and see if you get it. If you don't, take a test.

Re: What are the chances of being pregnant if...
I agree with Chelsey. Just wait it out and see if your period comes of not. There is a chance you could be pregnant, but no one really knows. Your nipples may just be sore from other things like Chelsey mentioned. Good luck.
