Pregnant? What to do? -
June 29th 2011, 06:19 AM
Hey-
So, matter of the fact is I may be pregnant. I understand the steps to take and I won't explain how it happened, but it's an extremely unwanted pregnancy and I know what I'll do already if it is.
I was supposed to start my period on the 21st I just figured out legit. And I took three at home tests. One positive, one negative, and one didn't work for unknown reasons. I have a lot of the symptoms I know you're supposed to look for, but it could be in my head too. Even my late period might just be stress.
And then researching more today, it says to wait until two weeks after a missed period. But the tests I bought said it could even tell BEFORE, and I took one of them around the 24th so it was a bit after.
I guess, what I'm asking, is what should I do. Should I wait and take another at-home test? If so, when should I wait until and are certain brands more accurate? Or should I just go to the doctor? (The issue with this, is then my mom would know because we'd obviously get billed. Which I'm okay with happening, if I'm sure the doctor is the best option)
Thanks!
Maria.

I think you should go to the doctor and get a blood test! It would be more efficient that way. There will be no false positives.
Sorry to hear that you're going through this Maria!
I wish you the best of luck <3

I would go to the doctor to be honest, as not only would you get a valid opinion but you might get a second opinion on your options. If your mum gets billed you don't necessarily have to tell her what you went to the doctor for, do you??Best of luck with it all love.x

Doctor is the best option, because you have had a positive, negative and one test that didn't work then your only 100% proof of whether or not your pregnant is with your doctor... they will give you a test that is 100% accurate
I hope you get the answer your looking for, and good luck with it

If you've had a positive test I'd most certainly say your pregnant. One could have turned up negative due to the time of day you took it, how much water you've had, etc, since its so soon after your missed period.
I'd say go ahead and move forward with whatever plan you may have. If you are keeping the child or putting it up for adoption then go ahead and schedule an appointment with a doctor to confirm the pregnancy and get established. If you are going for the third option, go ahead and make an appointment with a Planned Parenthood or other clinic in your area. They will confirm the pregnancy before any procedure anyway. Good luck and sorry you are going through this. We're here if you need to talk <3

Hey Maria!
I agree with Joce here, if you have gotten a positive result and are exhibiting the symptoms you are most likely pregnant. Do you know what you want to do just yet? If you aren't certain and want to confirm the pregnancy, it would be easiest to go to your doctor or to a clinic and have them perform a test. Some family planning clinics offer pregnancy counseling as well so if you feel it is necessary, you should take advantage of their services.
Take care, lovely.

I also would advise you to go to the doctors, because then there's no room for error.
However, with home pregnancy tests, the general rule of thumb is:
Negative result could be positive.
Positive result is almost definitely positive.
The best time to take a test is more than two weeks after your missed period, and first thing in the morning.
Good luck <3
