Pregnant on Depo Shot

I've come up with no information whatsoever by looking this up on the internet.

If you are on the depo shot and you get pregnant, will it have any effect on the pregnancy?

Because my friend got the shot and then got pregnant like a week later.

Its really not likely, although there is always a risk when a fetus is exposed to pharmaceuticals.

From what I could find, its not known to harm the fetus. She might just want to make sure the doctor who gives her prenatal care knows this and he'll give her definite advice on this matter.

Alright, thanks. I honestly think it would be odd that it would have no effect, because you've got a bunch of chemicals and hormones running around in your body that shouldn't be there if you're pregnant.

I wouldn't think anything wrong would come from it. But I think she needs to take another test.

No, she's most definitely pregnant. No doubt about that at all.

But she had bleeding and cramping tonight, I guess. So I told her to go to her doctor tomorrow and see what's up.

ive heard that birth control can cause miscarriage sometimes. im not sure how accurate that is though

not true for early pregnancy. For every woman that bc fails and pregnancy results, the woman is on bc during two weeks (or more) and there is no recorded effect of the hormones on an existing pregnancy
