16 and Pregnant -
August 17th 2009, 08:21 PM
I was just wondering if there are any teenagers here that are pregnant or were pregnant. How old were you, did you have an abortion, keep the child or put him/her up for adoption, how did you tell your parents, etc...

i was a week from my thirteenth when i got pregnant. i kept my baby, it is so so so hard but totally worth it, if i could change it, i would have waited a few years... like eight or so, but i didnt and i have a beuatiful little girl. as long as you have emotinal support you will do alright, you are sixteen, if i can you can
i am living with my sister so i just sat down in front of her and told her, she was cool. minimal freak out, she was harsh about me being afraid to make my own appointment though.

I was sixteen when we concieved my oldest living seventeen when I had him, kept him, love him, and his siblings, wouldn't change them or when they came for the world. I told my mom and she cried... she got over it though, she had my big sister at fifteen it would have been hypocritical to not.
that being said, she did completely flip when I got pregnant by rape at thirteen, mostly because I lied to her, said I had slept with too many guys to know who the father was so she wouldnt make me have an abortion... which she couldn't've, I just thought so at the time.
Like my Annie (I'm the big sister) said, it is really hard but completely worth it.

I was 10 when I got pregnant my first time. I had my beautiful daughter, Ebony about two months before turning 11. It was worth it, and I would never get an abortion. I wish I could have gotten pregnant earlier, but it just wasn't possible. I am now homeless as my parents made me live on my own for my bad decision making. I spend most nights at the homeless shelter, but this isn't the best life. I'm currently using the one old computer that they have. My daughter is sleeping and she is a growing girl!
Whatever happens, don't look back. I'm almost 12 now, and it's been a rough road so far. I just hope everything works out for Ebony. It's going to be weird when she goes to school when she grows up. She will be in 5th grade when I can legally drink (I already do anyways). I bet she'll get made fun of a lot at school, but I'll just brag because I'm the youngest parent. Anyways, enjoy motherhood no matter what happens.

Well, I'm 16 now, and just found out im pregnant, and I'm going to keep the baby.
And for my parents, My boyfriend and I just sat them both down, and told them that I was pregnant and that it was out of their control that we were both legal age for sex and we both work. They are still really mad about it.
I hope that womb's not too warm cause it's cold out here and it'll be quite a shock to breathe this air to discover loss so I'd like to make some changes before you arrive so when your new eyes meet mine they won't see any lies just love.

I was 12. I would have found a way to tell my parents and keep it, but when I was 4 months pregnant I got beat up and the baby was killed. My parents still don't know.
I'll eat when I am hungry
I'll drink when I am dry,
Get drunk whenever I'm ready, get sober by and by.
And if this river don't drown me,
it's down I'll mean to roam,
For I'm a river driver and I'm far away from home.

I was 14 when I got pregnant. But unfortunatley the baby didn't make it, due to a blood disorder I have. I never told my parents, they still don't know. I think I would have kept my baby, though. Adoption would be too hard for me, and I would never have an abortion.

She left a note for my parents the first time and then talked to them on the phone. My parents cried my dad got a little pissed at her boyfriend (now husband) but they got over it.

Just as an FYI for everyone reading this, This is very very rare. Normally only having one or a few abortions in your life will NOT affect your reproductive health. Misusing abortions (having several a year) can cause scar tissue to build up. BUT under normal situations, it does not.

I first got pregnant when i was 15, I told my parents and was given a choice of keeping it and being alone or letting them help me and i listened to them and had abortion, i regretted it but i knew i wouldn't of been able to handle a baby in my situation (just about to study for my exams and i really didnt have any life skills becuase my mum did everything)
Now im 19, pregnant for the second time and old enough to look after a child and im keeping it with no regrets :]

Re: 16 and Pregnant -
September 10th 2009, 04:15 AM
I got pregnant with my daughter at 15 and had her at sixteen. She will be three in october. I got pregnant again at 18 am now 19. And he just arrived on September 1st. He is doing great and is healthy.
With my first pregnancy I got my GED, got a job and moved out on my own. Mom didn't kick me out or anything but the living situation at her house was not good. Been on my own since. The father of my second child is wonderful and acts as if my daughter is his as well.
I will never sugguest someone have a child young. Most people cannot and do not handle it properly. Rasing a child being an adult paying your own bills is the hardest most stressful thing you will ever have to do. It takes a lot of sacarficing. My advice to anyone that finds themself in that situation is to think of what is right and best for you and do whatever it takes to do it. If you want to keep you baby then you need to be willing or work and give up all your money. Probably wont ever get good sleep again. You can't watch or do what you want anymore. Its all a lot harder than it sounds.
My children are the greatest thing in the world to me and I would happily and willingly do what I have to for the rest of my life to make sure they have what they need and want. Rasing kids is the hardest and most rewarding thing you will ever do.

Re: 16 and Pregnant -

I got pregnant at 19 and we're keeping the baby. or a good reference point though, both my mother-in-law (now in her 30s) and my sister-in-law (just turned 16) got pregnant. My mother-in-law kept my husband and never once regretted it. My sister-in-law is going through a lot, but has decided to keep the baby and raise it.
As far as telling the parentals: I just told them. They were all happy. My sister-in-law was visiting and everyone just kinda knew. Her father didn't know though. He was trying to get her to have an abortion (something no one in our family believes in). All is fine now though.
To the 11/12 year old: ???? Got pregnant at 10?!?!?! I wasn't even thinking about sex when I was 10. Wow. Oh and you should be able to get some kind of help (outside of the homelss shelter). Your parents should really go to jail or something for kicking you out. No child can get a legitimate job and support themselves at that age. That's just horrible. I wish you the best of luck.
Remember there is always a tomorrow and always something to be thankful for.

Ok well I'm not pregnant or I dont have a baby.
But I have a friend who got pregnant at 17, she kept the baby. She lives with her dad, and her sisters. She just told them straight out, they were fine with it as there is a lot of her cousins and stuff in the same situation. She now has 2 other kids. I think she loves it and wouldnt swap it for the world.
I also work a girl who got pregnant at 17, she lost the baby and the same thing happened for a second time when she was 18. She got pregnant last year at 20 with her "sex buddy" (or whatever you want to call them)- last year, she wanted to keep the baby but was scared of what people would think and he didnt want the baby either, so she terminated the pregnancy. She's told her parents about the miscarriages but not about the termination.
