Unhappy HELP! I might be pregnant! - October 30th 2015, 04:37 AM

Okay, i'm seriously freaking out. So i'm already 21, the first day of my last period was on september 24 2015, and my guy and i had protected sex last october 15 and october 21. we checked for any breakage and leaks and there were none. i was supposed get my period around october 22 and it's already the 30th but still no period. I've been pretty regular with my cycle, usually in a 27-30 days cycle. I've been feeling bloated and easily tired recently, also having white/light yellowish discharge, nipples are sensitive to touch, and mood swings (tho mood swings are pretty normal for me). no cramping or nausea tho. I took a pregnancy test last october 27, and it came out negative. I'm planning on taking it again a week after, which is on november 3. I'm not sure if i'm pregnant since we've always had sex wearing a condom and this never happened before. On the week that i got my period tho, around september 24 to october 2 , i had a major submission that stressed me out quite a bit (like i only had 3-4 hours of sleep, ate only once or twice a day for 4-5 days) So i'm not sure if its the stress that's throwing my period off or if i'm really pregnant. Someone please help!

The hormone levels in your urimevtypically are not high enough to register a pregnancy until 2 weeks after conception. That's why you might have a negative test. If you take a second test, make sure it's 2 weeks after the 21st ok. I know this is scary. No matter what happens, everything will be ok. You mentioned a major stressor in your life; this is what could be causing the lateness, added stresses from stressing about being late could also delay it further. You may just miss a cycle, which isn't entirely uncommon. Whether you get a positive or negative test, if you miss your period you should the about seeing your doctor just in case.

Have you considered alternative methods of birth Comtrol like the Nuva Ring, IUD or pill? They're a little more reliable than condoms, less prone to human error and can eliminate future concerns like these. Many community health units sell birth control at a reduced rate (eg $5 for a Nuva ring instead of $20. $15 for 3 instead of $60, but that's the going rate in my country, I imagine it'll be more I'm the US bu not by much).

Everything Always* said is correct. I'd add if you're American, your insurance should cover birth control costs, and there are clinics that can help you find birth control options for you as well. While pregnancy is possible, if you used a condom without issue, I would try not to worry so much as worrying about potential pregnancy may be throwing off your period (causing you to worry more...it's a bad cycle). That major stressor may be influencing it as well. As Always* said, take a pregnancy test two weeks after your last sex act. If it's negative, I think it must be stress, and I'd consider seeking counseling or anything to help you through that. Good luck!

I tried using birth control pills before but (last july) but i didn't continue it since it messed up my cycle a bit. If ever i do get a negative 2 weeks after the 21st (which would then be on the 4th of november), and still no period, does that mean that i'm less likely to be pregnant?? If ever i do get a negative i'm already planning on checking up with a doctor.

It can take a few cycles for your period and other stuff to regulate when you are using birth control. I would try it again and maybe try using a different brand/type - they all have different hormone's levels and mixes, some will work for your better than others. I found that some made it hard to lose weight, others I'd always feel a little hungrier and lost my sex drive, on another I always felt nauseous after I took the pill, on a final one I'd randomly miss my periods. For all the ones with draw back there were an equal amount of "bright sides". So, like I said, try again and give it a few months (unless your having extreme side effects).

With missing your period, yes, try the test again. If it comes out negative, you should still try your doctor to see if something is going on to cause irregularity in your period.

Going on birth control would probably ease your mind quite a bit. I know that the first few months I was on birth control I had to switch to different pills so it messed things up a bit. If the pills are messing with your cycle too excessively you can talk to your doctor and you might need to go on a different brand.
