Exclamation Terrified: Am I pregnant? - April 2nd 2013, 10:11 AM

My boyfriend and I have had sex a few times and he always pulled out. Silly of us to think that way actually worked! Last week I went to the doctor to start on the pill and I got it without problem. Now I'm due to start my period around this time and I'm feeling all of the usual things I do on the run up to my period...i just don't have it yet and I'm late. My period is irregular but usually around the start of a month. Last time, it started early at the end of February but before that I had it at the beginning of February too. I can't think of any other symptoms that scream pregnancy other than feeling sick from time to time and soft stool(poo) but I usually feel that on my period too. My breasts aren't sore at all.I maybe stressing too much over the fact that I could be pregnant? Also, my eating habits have been awful for the past 5 days with take-out food so could that be delaying it also? Please help me.

If you've just started the pill, that could be affecting your periods - sometimes it can take a while for your body to settle in to it!! Stressing about things can also delay it. I was going to go on a bit of a rant about the danger of the pull-out method, but you've already started the pill, so I'll leave you alone - just please remember how unreliable it is!!

Hi there,
Yes, starting the pill can definitely give you all sorts of symptoms. For me, it was nausea, irregular periods, weight gain and headaches. It's different for everybody, but I'd give it a few weeks. If it's been 6 weeks since your last period, then I'd take a test, but I believe you have nothing to worry about.

Starting the pill can mess with your period. This might sound like a dumb question, but when you say you're due your period, you mean your gap week off the pill, right? Because obviously if you're still on the pill you won't get your period even if you were supposed to get it then. If it is your gap week, you can end up being late anyway because the pill can mess with your system.

If you are pregnant, it's still unlikely that you'd be showing any signs of it yet, so try not to worry about any of those, because they almost certainly aren't from pregnancy.

Although it's unlikely that you are pregnant (pulling out, although not a recommended method because it is very risky, still lowers the risk of pregnancy), you should take a test to be certain. Just make sure it's been two weeks since you had sex. Good luck.
