Month Long Period -
October 16th 2011, 05:23 AM
Ever since my last period I've been still bleeding and it's been a month now.I have no idea what's going on but it's frustraiting.I'm not on birthcontrol or anything.
You wonder why I never smile anymore, but with broken homes come broken smiles.
Has the acidic rain burned a hole so deep, that we don't care what's beneath our feet?
I'm a freak and my best friend is a pirate-ninja-dinosaur,what a unique friendship!
My heart is so numb, that I can't feel it breaking

If you've been bleeding for a month straight and have no idea what is causing it, you should definitely see your doctor or gynecologist. We cannot provide you with a diagnosis.

I know no one here can provide a diagnosis,I was just wondering if anyone else ever had a period like this and if they did what caused it.Just other people's experience in the matter is what I'm looking for.
I don't have a doctor right now though I am looking for one,I'm just having a really hard time finding the time to call and juggle appointments

I've had it but only because of birthcontrol. I know seeing a doctor can be a big hassle, but it's not great for you to bleed for that long. Aside the fact the periods are plain annoying and inconvenient, losing too much blood can cause health problems. It may not be a problem for you, but if you start feeling super tired / faint etc it could be that it's causing you to become slightly anaemic. You need to check with a doctor about everything though.
It might just be a random hormone imbalance, but it's always best to check with a doctor.

See a doctor. You may need to go on birth control to even your periods out. I know someone who used to have your problem & birth control has helped a lot. It's not healthy to lose that much blood.

I'm going to move this to Sex and Puberty.
It's definitely not normal, but it could be caused by several things. You should get to a doctor, or even go to Planned Parenthood. Best of luck!

How regular are you normally? This used to happen to me occasionally, and I was put on birth control for it, however, it could also be a serious medical problem. I would definitely talk to your doctor about it, even if it's awkward and embarassing for you. Just be completely honest, and they will get you the help you need.

First off don't freak because I certainly did when it happened to me. Mine was caused because I was on Yaz and was taking 3 months in a row so as to not have my period for 3 months. On Yaz you are only supposed to have the 4 sugar pills and then go back to the regular. Well I never take the sugar pills and I didn't take my regular pill again after 4 days because my period was still pretty heavy. However that's exactly what caused me to continue bleeding for a month I was too late in telling my body to stop. But it did stop eventually and the only bad thing to come of it was a UTI because I use pads, and well it's a slightly longer story... But yeah it's happened to me and everything should be fine, though if it goes on much longer I would go see your doctor.

I never had month long periods, but I had two week periods for like, three years of my life. It was horrible. But then I found the answer to all my problems: Birth control.
However, depending on how heavy, this may not be a hormonal issue. I would highly advise you seek medical attention. My mother had this happen to her because of rapid weight loss. I do not know your situation, and am not a doctor, so I can't diagnose you. But there are many reasons this can happen and I would highly recommend you see a professional.
