Missing period but weight restored?

I've been struggling with anorexia for years, and I recently finished a pretty extensive treatment after relapsing. I'm considered weight restored as of about a month ago, but I haven't gotten my period? I might be overly concerned, but I REALLY don't want to be going down the wrong path. I've had slips of calorie counting and trying to restrict too. I just want to stay as 'recovered' as I can. What do you guys think?:?

Hey Sophie, I'm so glad to hear you're working on recovery from your Anorexia. Periods can be tricky even when you don't have an eating disorder. It can take awhile once you're weight restored for it to come back. When you skip a period, it's your body saying that it wouldn't be able to maintain a pregnancy if you were to get pregnant. Once you maintain recovery for awhile and you continue to stay healthy, your period should come back. This is something my mom told me, I don't have an official source for it.

Hey!

The person above is right - it might take a little more time for your period to come back. If you're concerned, you can always ask your doctor about it, I'm sure they have more information and would let you know if it's anything to worry about. I looked around a little and it seems like it's normal for it to take a little while to come back even after you've recovered, so it's probably fine

It's great that you're coming back from anorexia! Keep working at it, and TH is always here if you need advice or support

Hey Sophie.

Thanks for coming to us here. I'm also really glad you're working hard on your recovery and remember if you're ever struggling with it, you can always talk to us about it :)

This happened to a family member of mine. Whats been said is correct. Its just that your body hasn't been strong enough to carry a baby so it's stopped you from having periods and even though you've gained weight back, your period won't just suddenly come back with it. It might take a few months for your body adjust and for your periods to become regulated again. If it continues after several months it might be worth seeing your GP/Doctor about it but for now, I honestly wouldn't worry.

Hope and wishes,
Jessie
