Random period - June 16th 2015, 08:04 PM

I'm on the depo provera contraceptive injection, I've been on it for about two years. I hadn't had a period for over a year because of it (which is a normal side-effect by the way) I would still get the odd period cramps but that was it, no spotting or anything.

Last night I started having period pains which were worse than what I normally get with the shot. I now have a period my first in about 14 months. Is this normal? :| I get the shot every 12 weeks without fail by the way.

I completely forgot how annoying they are.

Yes, that sounds pretty normal in the context of the depo injection. I'd talk to whoever prescribed it to you and explain that you're keeping up to date with the shots and are now experiencing this side effect. They might change the dose or come up with a different plan that works for your body, although it's more than likely just a side effect.
