My Period Dissappeared? -
February 22nd 2013, 12:33 PM
Once I started my period, it was fairly regular, never more then a few days off schedule. It's been a month, and right about now I should be having my period. In fact, I'm several weeks late, which scares me. It is impossible for me to be pregnant because I am still a virgin. I don't know what's up with me/my body. Any advice?

Hi, Lily.
Periods can sometimes be irregular especially at 13 during your teenage years when your hormones are up and down. This is actually quite normal for your period to be irregular at times. And also, stress and/or a change in diet can effect your period.
I don't think you have anything to worry about but it's always good to be safe and see a doctor anyway.

Hi Lily
Christabel is right, there's nothing to worry about I've known people to go from a 2 week cycle to an 8 week cycle no exaggeration, it's just hormones and growing up, it's normal. If you keep not getting it (say, a few months) then it might be due to stress or being unhealthy, and you should talk to a doctor. otherwise, don't fret.
I'm perfectly normal; it's the rest of the world that's insane.

I'm 25 and I started my periods on my 9th birthday. Honestly, they where very irregular for the first 2 years and I couldn't really put an exact date to when my periods where due. This is normal as your body is readjusting to the changes that naturally occur as you grow older. Your hips are getting wider, your putting on weight, your breasts are developing and obviously raging hormones too. These are all part of growing up, and periods are no different.
It will take time for them to settle in, but give it time and they will become more regular.
The only reason you need to visit a doctor is if you've missed your period completely for 6 months in a row, as this may be a sign of a hormone imbalance, or another health issue associated with you menstrual cycle.

Don't fret, Lily. Its pretty normal, for periods to be irregular, especially at 13. Best thing to do is not to fret about it, if it continues then I would talk to your mom, or a doctor about it, but don't fret for right now!

I wouldn't worry about it
Periods can be affected by loads of things like stress, hormones even weight loss and even people with the most rigid of cycles can be irregular sometimes
