Unhappy Awaiting my period still - February 4th 2013, 04:58 AM

Hi. I'm 16 years old and i lost my period to anorexia because i got sick to the point of being moderately-severely underweight but now that im techneically considered healthy weight for over a year i havent got it back, it's rly frustrating. It seems like i might have to gain weight to get it back, im really worried the doctor will force me to gain weight.. idk what to do how long did most of you recovered anorexics have to wait to get your period back..? I'm still a lot under my heaviest weight, but i ate too much then anyway.. idk what to do

I'm sure with time everything will go back to normal, how has your eating been?

Re: Awaiting my period still - February 5th 2013, 04:07 PM

My period was allllll sorts of crazy when I had my eating disorder. I was NEVER regular, and missed some. I never realized it, but it was due to starving myself, along with my binges. I'm on a very regular [healthy] diet, and my period has been regular. For me, personally, regulating my eating habits in a healthy way brought back my period. So perhaps you could work on having a consistent healthy eating pattern. I also suggest talking to your doctor. They can help and know what's going to work best. I don't know if they will make you gain weight. But gaining weight and being "fat" are two separate things. Your main goal should be your health. Take care.
