Got my period on my graduation day... D: - September 5th 2012, 10:25 AM

So my graduation ceremony is tonight and I woke up with a lovely surprise this morning. I only came off the pill three months ago and my body's still adjusting, so I can't really predict at the moment how painful or uncomfortable my period might be... are there any tips to help me get through today as easily as possible?? I know eating bananas is supposed to help...Thank God my dress is dark blue and not white anyway!!

I don't know if it'll be of any help but I know recently nurofen realised tablets designed to help with period pains and apparently they are meant to be good and last quite a while, you could purchase some of those and take them beforehand or take them with you in case, then you're covered and can stop any pain or discomfort before or as it starts.

You could try some pain medicines like Advil or Aleve, or ones specifically for periods like Midol and Pamprin. Also you could try not to move too much before, I find that if I'm too active, it makes the cramps worse.

Use a hot water pad before you get ready to leave for the ceremony! When I have my period the only thing I can take to get rid of my cramps is excedrin migraine and it helps wonderfully. I also run to help ease my cramps, unlike the above poster, when I move it helps to relieve my cramps!

I think moving around helps with cramps too. On days I work during my period, I feel less sick even though I expect to go in there feeling like crap, lol
