period cramps

I get really bad period cramps like really bad. Does anyone know a good way to make them less painful or get rid of them.

I eat chocolate and use a heating pad or a hot bath to help reduce the pain of cramps. I'm also told that having an orgasm can relieve some cramps.

Whenever I have bad cramps, I just take some tylenol or motrin and that usually helps mine.

Well, um, you can have an orgasm without a boyfriend but I understand if you are not comfortable with the thought. It was just an idea that helps some women.

In addition to orgasms, and applied heat (though a heating pad or bath), you can take cramp relieving medicine as suggested above.

Some women also have success with different foods, such as chocolate, salty snacks, or red meat.

I know how you feel. Here's what usually helps mine:
  • Chocolate - suck on it. The sucking motion pretty much triggers something in your mind that soothes it. Also in the chemical compound of chocolate is an herb that has been known to sooth the pain. (Kinda like Ibuprofen)
  • Any herbal tea
  • Hot baths
  • A lower back massage
  • Rubbing salts
  • Mortin
These are just some things that help me, of course not all women are the same. But you could try them, one of them might help. (:

I'm in the same position right now and I can tell you that orgasms do actually help (and I haven't seen my boyfriend since yesterday!! :hehe: ) Anyway if you're not into that kind of thing good old-fashioned painkillers are generally my last resort, bananas apparently work as well (not a banana fan myself but they do the job) as do hot baths and hot water bottles. Massaging the area can work too ~ as can exercise!!

Well we can't give tips on here, but I just have two words: Clitoral Stimulation. I'll let you use the internet from there, but in short, if you use a tampon it shouldn't be a big bloody mess, or if you prefer gloves. In any case, google is your best friend for tips on orgasms, even when on your period. I personally use Midol or a similar medicine specifically made for cramps and issues you get when on your period.

Orgasms do work: try masturbation. As far as tips go, we can't go into detail, but using the internet is helpful for something like this. Even using experimentation is also helpful. Just see what feels good, and go from there.

A few other things to help:
  1. Hot water bottle: Just set a water bottle underneath hot water and let the water inside get warm, and just lie the bottle over your stomach
  2. Tylenol, Advil, Ibuprofen (general Advil), Acetametaphin (generic Tylenol), Motrin: These are pain relievers, and if you know you don't have any allergies to any of the medications I listed, you can try taking up to 4 to try to help the pain.
  3. Birth control pills: You CAN have them, even if you aren't sexually active with anyone. They can help regulate your periods, help with cramps and even acne as well.

There are plenty of things you can do! Just remember to try to relax, since dwelling on them only make them worse.

Chocolate actually seems to reduce my cramps. Normally i just drizzle a ton of chocolate on ice cream and devour and make that my breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I know it's not healthy but we're talking desperate days when you feel like all you can do is curl up in a ball and wait for it to pass.
A heating pad on the lower abdomen.
A warm shower.
Curling up in a ball and just lying still.

Everyone has said everything already so I'm just gonna ad my bit.

My cramps used to be so bad I'd be missing school and throwing up.
I went to the doc and he put me on the pill. I'm only 16 so my Mam went with me. It works really good! The cramps are still bad but not anywhere near as bad as they used to be.

lay on flat surfaces like floors or table, stand on your head, drink pickle juice, lay in a hot bath, lay flat on your stomach, or, try going to sleep so when you wake up you won't have anymore cramps. :)
