Super stressed about period and possible pregnancy - July 20th 2012, 06:42 AM

okay so i am in high school and have been with my boyfriend for awhile now. We had sex for the first time 10 days ago and my last period was June 26th to the 29th. my cycles are around 23 days but have been irregular. We had protected sex and i know i wasn't fertile the day we had it. i am not on birth control and i am pretty positive the condom didn't break. my period was supposed to have started today and it hasn't. I know there are very slim chances of being pregnant and especially because i am under a lot of stress due to thinking about all of this and due to my volleyball team. Stress can make your period late right? I mean i come home crying after every practice lately and get really stressed out over it. I think I'm just being paranoid but I'm not sure

Stress, along with other factors, can indeed make your period very irregular. Sometimes, it could even make your period stop completely. Due to the fact that you're worried about your period, and volleyball is a strenuous work out, this might be why your period might not have come yet, but then again, it's only the 20th of July. Your last period was the 26th of June. Periods can be very strange, and if you've had irregular periods in the past, this could also add on another factor as to why your period hasn't made it's presence yet.

Stop worrying. You did everything right; you used protection. That's the number one key in making sure an unplanned pregnancy doesn't happen. If you're sure the condom didn't break, the chances of becoming pregnant are very slim.

It's still too early to test. It's only been about 10 days since you last had sex, you should wait another 4 days or so to take a pregnancy test, if anything, just to ease your mind.

If you used a condom and it didn't break, you are probably not pregnant. There are many reasons your period would be late, stress being one of them. You can't test until two weeks so until then: breathe and try not to stress.

Stress can be a great reason, and being young again 23 days and you said irregular anyways...could also be another factor. Just relax a bit and it doesn't show at the end of the week take a pregnancy test.
