On Period for over two weeks? - June 20th 2012, 09:33 PM

I got my first period when I was 12, so I've had them for about four years now. Occasionally my period will go longer or shorter (it is sometimes a little irregular) but it's never gone this long. Sometimes it's spotting and sometimes it's heavier, but I'm not really having many cramps. I don't really know how much to say about it, and I can't go to the doctor because I've been already for a sports physical (this cycle had just started then so nothing was odd yet), to a cardiologist for palpitations, and to get a mole removed. My mom is basically at her limit for doctors right now. I just need to know if this is something I should be concerned about or if it's common, I guess.

Keep an eye on it, and if it happens again, mention it to a doctor. Sometimes weird things happen with periods, but it doesn't mean anything.

Sorry I couldn't be there, I was tied to a rocking chair.

It may just be due to stress. While it is a bit strange to have on for so long, it's usually nothing to worry about unless it happens consecutively or often.

So as for now, you are fine Just see if it happens next month or the following. You may want to keep record of this somewhere, that way you will be able to tell doctors exact dates and exactly how long it lasted this time, and the next (IF) you have it happen again.

Sometimes this could be caused due to stress, medications you are on, or just your body changing.

Hope this helps!

Mine would go over 14 days before I was on the pill. I might talk to your gynecologist about going on the pill.

Re: On Period for over two weeks? - June 23rd 2012, 04:59 AM

I'm on birth control to help regulate my periods, but I've still been having really long ones (3 months, 1 month, and over a month right now). I talked to my doctor about them and she put me on more hormones. I'm going to call her Monday to set up an appointment. Everyone's body is different. If it concerns you or happens again, a doctor's visit should be beneficial.
