Period Question - June 8th 2012, 04:27 PM

So I have a period question...

Is it okay that I don't get my period as often as I should? Everyone knows that you get a period every month but I get mine and then I skip a month and I have it again. I've been having my period since I was about 12-13 (sometime in seventh grade at least...) - I'm a little less worried than the few times this year where I've been freaking out because I wasn't getting my period when I should have and the fact that sometimes it felt like a long long time between them...

I've said it once, I've said it twice, I've said it a thousand fucking times
That I'm OK, that I'm fine, that it's all just in my mind
But this has got the best of me, and I can't seem to sleep
It's not 'cause you're not with me, it's cause you never leave

Re: Period Question - June 8th 2012, 04:42 PM

It is normal to be late or miss a period if you are really athletic and also younger. I started mine in the 6th grade and by the 8th I missed a lot. I went to the doctor and they had told me I am young and so periods can be more unpredictable. I don't know much on the athletic thing but I was told that also.

All in all I think it is normal because you are younger.

At age 14, this is pretty normal. Also depends on weight (if you are skinny or athletic, you can miss some, and also if you are overweight), stress level, and other aspects as well. You aren't on the pill, are you? Because that would affect it as well.

Traci, I'm not on the pill, since I see no point to be on it. It could be the weight and stress levels, I'm pretty stressed most of the time and have talked to my doctor about weight issues last time I saw her (I am over weight, but healthy and am going to try to be a bit better soon, because it's finally almost time where I can leave the house without freezing my ass off.)

Re: Period Question - June 9th 2012, 07:39 PM

Hey!
I've been having my periods regularly every eight weeks since I was 12, I have really light periods and not very often! I've been to see my doctor about it who assured me that it was totally fine, I'm just a lucky girl who doesn't get her period that often.
If you're worried about it then go and see your doctor who will be able to reassure you and settle and worries that you might have!

Re: Period Question - June 10th 2012, 08:39 PM

Thanks Tegan, I'm hoping to see my doctor this month when she comes back up, and hopefully I can remember to talk about that (... let's just say I have a big pile of things that I need to talk about health wise) - Also, I don't get them "light" I generally have really heavy periods.

^^' I think stress could add to it, but I'm stressed/been sick and I'm still having it, so I'm not sure. I think it happens when it happens, I guess.
