How do you swim on your period without a tampon? -
May 20th 2012, 08:39 AM
I think mine just hit, and I have swimming lessons tomorrow. I know they stop whilst in the water, but what about BEFORE you get in the pool and AFTER? Does it make a stain in your swimsuit or show a trail in the water? It's a fair walk between the pool and the changing rooms and I'm not sure how I'm gonna ask my mom to get me tampons.
um by the way I'm not sure if it's my period because it's brown and slimy and never really showed up again the past 10 minutes

The best thing to do would be to wear a tampon. I'm not sure about it happening in the water, I thought it still did, but even so, before and after it would be very likely to stain your swimsuit. Your mum might even already have some in the house, and if she doesn't, although it might feel awkward, it's important for you to tell her.
Do you wanna come with me? 'Cause if you do, then I should warn you - you're gonna see all sorts of things. Ghosts from the past. Aliens from the future. The day the Earth died in a ball of flame. It won't be quiet, it won't be safe, and it won't be calm. But I'll tell you what it will be: The trip of a lifetime!

RIP Granddad Terry. I'll miss you.

Your period will not stop in the water. This is a fallacy. If you're on your period, you have two options...one, wear a tampon while in the water or, two, don't swim until your period ends.

Your period does not stop while you're in water, so you're going to need to use tampons. I would just recommend letting her know soon if the lesson is tomorrow.

Your period actually doesn't stop while you're in the water. I know it's a bit awkward, but you're gonna have to let your mom know that you started your period and ask her to buy tampons or if she has any at the house that you can use for your swim lesson. Also, if this is your first time using tampons, be aware that it might feel a bit awkward at first. That feeling will go away though, so don't worry about it too much.

It's funny, but I've never worn a tampon while swimming with my period and I've never left a trail or anything like that... I guess if you're worried get a tampon.

Actually, it is completely dependent on the person and their flow. Some people who have a light flow, stop while swimming but not in the bath.
You can test it out every once in awhile and see what works for you the best. And the reason it might stop in the water is due to the pressure. But it likely won't stop if you are having a heavy flow.
Anyways, as others stated. Tampon. However, it is now past the date you were needing answers. So I will go ahead and close the thread now. Feel free to PM me to discuss reopening it for any reason.
Also, the brown stuff is probably just leftover blood from your last period. As your period gets started, it should start turning more and more red.
