Is it inappropriate to ask? -
February 12th 2022, 06:56 PM
I am going full time on March 7th, as a contact tracer. But Covid cases are down right now to the point where I have a hard time getting four hours in, let alone eight. Is it inappropriate to ask my boss what she has in mind for projects to give us our hours?

No, I don't think that's inappropriate to ask at all!
Remember, the pandemic is ongoing so while cases might be down again; they will — unfortunately — go up again. It's not something anyone should wish as a contact tracer; but it's something to keep in mind.

Should I ask something along the lines of "I'm wondering what projects you have planned for us so we can meet our hours goal?" Or should I just ask what projects she has planned without mentioning the hours part?

I think asking what you can do to meet your hourly goal when there are tracing to do would be a good question for them.

That seems good Dez, polite but specific - not inappropriate whatsoever, and it will let your boss know that the hours goal is important to you

I don't think it's inappropriate. You need to know where you're at with your work and your future.
As Jenna has said, the pandemic is still ongoing. Even if cases are going down, your job is important.

Absolutely! There are likely a lot of projects that need assistance, and it never hurts to ask before sitting around.
Also, I did contact tracing 2020 and 2021 and now working vaccine initiatives. Let me know if you got q's public health buddy
