The Mirror
I look in the mirror
And see a thousand scars Even the most faded of them Seem so angry, A physical reminder Of the pain that plagues My mind. Every time, I want to make it count. Every time, I say I’ll remember. Some of them I do, But most just fade into obscurity. It becomes a baseless excuse, A justification, To spill open every time My heart hurts, Every time the voices in my head Tell me I am not good enough, Not smart enough, Not pretty enough, To deserve love or kindness. How much blood have I lost, How many tears have I shed, Thinking I am nothing? |
