Let's Just Work It Out (Poem) -
March 11th 2018, 08:30 AM
My finance of 7 years dumped me and said I wasn't sweet anymore. So I made this poem and sent it to her:
At 21 I decided I would need to share my life,
With someone special, someone who'd be my wife,
I dated but couldn't find someone to call my own,
Until I met the love of my life,
We stayed up all night talking late at home,
I saw the magic sparkle in her eyes and was desperate to meet,
Butterflies in my stomach, pins and needles in my feet,
The first thing I did was hug and give a kiss,
I don't know why, but my heart said she's the one, don't miss,
I stayed over at your place as you looked out for me,
You made me a meal and lemsip instead of tea,
You showed me so much love it made me fall so deep,
My face was aching from smiling,
This love, it felt so neat,
I kept throwing balls to the wall to win a great big bear,
Walked home holding hands, Oh how I loved you being there,
Your eyes were brown and beautiful yet empty and sad,
I used to talk to you occasionally and you were glad,
That I wasn't just using you for sex or stuff bad,
After your operation I was there to look after,
Brought you food and drink I was your healing plaster,
I stayed with you all night holding you close,
Because I wanted to show you that I loved you the most,
We spent years together and worked through every issue,
We laughed, argued and cried into a tissue,
But we fixed it because being apart I would miss you,
After 7 years of loving you I got down on one knee,
To ask the lady of my dreams if she'd like to marry me,
Ill be honest I'm not the biggest fan of Hulk or Iron Man,
Or Gotham or Criminal or Friends, but I had a plan,
Even if the episode was bad I could sit next to you,
For hours and hours until the night was through,
That's all that I wanted when I opened the box on top of the tower,
And slid the ring on your finger I'd been carrying for hours,
At 21 I decided that I wanted something real,
At 27 I needed loyalty, love, compassion and hugs,
You were an angel sent down from above,
You said I hadn't been sweet since our valentine's Day,
That's because in the background I was planning the day,
When I'd buy a ring as a sign of our love,
Marry you in a church, white dresses and doves,
Flying high in the sky as the Priest says we can kiss,
And as we look around and see family and friends smile,
We go on holiday, away for a while,
Then we return to our newly bought house,
Say hi to the neighbors as we take the rubbish out,
That's why I got angry and sometimes I'd shout,
It wasn't that I didn't love you or was ever going to leave,
I didn't stop writing poems because I was naive,
I stopped writing poems because I was building our future,
If you want to be with me let's make it clear,
My love is everlasting, my dreams are still here,
If you want to talk I'll be on the end of the line,
But we can't give this up after such a long time,
I hurt you, you hurt me, but it was never going to be easy,
If you miss me and have love left in your heart,
There's a chance we can make it, a chance to restart,
Love is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs,
Corinthians 13: 4-8 and psalms,
Wishing you would reconsider leaving and those brown beautiful eyes could fall asleep in my arms
