I wrote this while crying my eyes out so not sure how if sounds because reading it is going to make me cry more.
Some people are good
At leaving abuse
(I'm happy for them)
Other people are a bit confused
They miss the chance for CPS
They miss the mark for youth reach out
They dont come across as mentally impaired
But inside it is debilitating to live in fear
So they're told I'm going to be blunt:
you really need to 'man up'
Put your big girl panties on
Get off your lazy butt
Make shit happen
Don't just sit there feeling sorry
We have been there and got through it,
And if you haven't left by now,
there's something wrong with you
They say: sorry not sorry,
This is tough love
I left when I was 15
They say: go reft go light
Actually I'm not gonna give you tips
Because you should figure it out yourself
And by the end of all this?
hopeless, helpless, defeated
Little Sue has shrunk to the size of a mouse
She has disappeared from the map
Sitting in a corner rocking in and out
Head bobbing, tears flying, she's a little girl hiding
Blood shot eyes undress her,
strikes a knife into her soul
For reaching out, for speaking out
Her punishment is the walk back to the first exile
Unsure if she would be let back in
Some people do toughen up
Some people bend
Little Sue, she broke
She was too weak
To speak and keep speaking and
to rip off the tape from her mouth
Her language was bobbing her head,
rocking side to side
Tears flying,
Hiding under blankets
Sitting at a cemetery
cuddling the same knife that struck her soul
And the other survivors, they
point their fingers at her
They call themselves successful
Left at 15 years old, got a job, bought a car
did something with their life
We made it through
So why can't you?
You obviously can but you don't try to
I am sorry to hear you are in such a tough spot right now. You are really amazing and can get through this, I know you can. <3
Do you ever get a little bit tired of life
Like you're not really happy but you don't wanna die
Like you're hanging by a thread but you gotta survive
'Cause you gotta survive
This was powerful, especially the end. Keep sharing with us. <3
If clarity's in death, then why won't this die?
Years of tearing down our banners, you and I
Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first
This is a really good poem and really honest. I'm sorry to hear that you're so upset and I hope that since writing this, you're feeling a bit better somehow. Make sure you're looking after yourself ok?
