poem I wrote out of frustration
I am not a toolbox You can't just throw tools at me You can't just throw skills at me You can't just throw distractions at me I am not a disease You can't just reduce me to my symptoms You can't just ask me questions from a checklist You can't just fix me with pills I am not a case study from your textbook, I am not a series of chemical imbalances I am not non-compliant, resistant, regressing I am not"a failure in therapy" I am a human in distress; I am a human in an emotional crisis due to traumas since childhood; I am a human struggling to live in this world because people in my life, professionals included have treated me in a way that made me feel worthless and ashamed for existing. But first and foremost, I am human |

Re: poem I wrote out of frustration
I can really relate to this. It frustrates me when people think that if something worked for them (or someone they know) then it must work for everyone. People are definitely all individuals and should be treated as such, and their symptoms should be considered just that: symptoms, something that the person has, not what the person is. Thank you for sharing this.
