The windows blend in with the black walls around me and all I'm left with are mirrors that glare with squinted eyes
"One more move and you'll never see the sun again" they chant in unison
You can't keep sitting here
Cracked lips and little pinky
Still stuck between the hinges of the door
That the wind slammed in your face
As you ask yourself the burning question "but why?"
The time has come to roll up your sleeves and face the world unafraid
To get yourself upstairs and at street level
to finally embark on the journey you were once so enthusiastic to start
I know the road ahead is dark and dreary
I know the crossing of the desert is too scary
and the chances you'll make it are slim
But hear my words: The sea will not split
You must learn to swim
Do you ever get a little bit tired of life
Like you're not really happy but you don't wanna die
Like you're hanging by a thread but you gotta survive
'Cause you gotta survive
If clarity's in death, then why won't this die?
Years of tearing down our banners, you and I
Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first
You can't keep sitting here
Cracked lips and little pinky
Still stuck between the hinges of the door
That the wind slammed in your face
As you ask yourself the burning question "but why?"
Oh wow, those last two lines really got to me for some reason. And the rest of it was wonderful as well, of course. I really love your work and get excited when you've posted something new. Please never stop writing.
