My name is self harm and bit by bit I will take over your mind, control you, destroy ever inch of your body. I will make you spend hours and hours and hours trawling through image after image online of images of other people who have self harmed just so you can justify cutting yourself and tell yourself you're not alone, when in the back of your mind I'll niggle away at you telling you 'You are alone no one would do this to themselves' and the more I say it the more you believe it and the more you believe it the more you convince yourself you're weird, you're a freak, I'll destroy time spent at the beach, I'll stop you swimming, I'll stop you wearing short sleeved tops. I'll consume you, but not just you, I'll start by consuming you and then slowly I'll consume your mind and your thoughts and soon you'll find that I'm hard to get away from and soon you'll find me taking up every second of your day, your time, where ever you go I'll be there, I'm the one making you take those blades with you, I'm the one telling you to cut, I'm the one when nothing else works you turn to. Why, because you know that no one else can understand you, you know that in reality me the blade me self harm is the only thing that gets you and understands you.
How could you explain me to your friends and family. Hell you've tried, but they wouldn't get it. They'd either get like really cross or angry or they'd take your blades me away from you and don't want that do you ?
Oh and those excuses 'I'm just cold' 'A thorn bush' 'bike riding accident' For starters since when did you actually ride a bike ? Yes you've got one in the garage but you last rode that thing like three years ago. Oh and those other excuses - I , me , self harm I helped you think those. You see I'm not just a thing you do, I've embedded myself into your mind, I'm like a virus and you my victim are the prey.
Between I , me and you by now me the self harm has taken over you, your mind, your life, we now have what is very much known as a love and hate relationship.

Remember when you told yourself all those years ago 'It will just be the one cut I wont do anymore' Like really did you actually think that was possible, oh how wrong you were.

I am self harm. That is my name. And I will destroy you. You will hate me for it. I will make you hate yourself. I will destroy you and I will make you want to destroy yourself more and more. I'm the one who makes you feel crazy. I am self harm and I will destroy you.
