TeenHelp - IF... (poem in progress)

If I gave you the key to my heart
Would you keep it safe?
Or would you just toss it on a shelf
Somewhere where anyone could take it away?

If I told you my deep dark secret
Would you tell me yours?
Or would you just stare at me in disgust
before turning and running the other way?

If I told you that I loved you,
Would you say you love me too?
Or would you just laugh at me and glare,
As you watched my heart slowly break?

If I wore my heart on my sleeve
Would you be careful no to break it?
Or would you be reckless, knock it down
And watch it break into a million pieces as it hit the ground?

If I promised never to leave
Would you promise me the same?
Or would you just toy with my heart,
Treat me like I’m just part of some big game?

If I tried to brighten your grey day,
Would you do the same for me?
Or would you look the other way
When I needed you the most?

If I asked you an important question,
Would you give me an honest answer?
Or would you turn and walk away,
Ignoring the things that I really want to know?

If I told you I wished I'd never been born,
would you really listen?
Or would you just brush me off,
and call me a drama queen?
