Federal agencies are facing intense pressure Friday to give the public more details on unexplained drone sightings in the New York City metropolitan area that have been going on for weeks over residential neighborhoods as well as restricted sites and critical infrastructure.

“The bottom line is this: They’re not providing enough information to the public, and the public is concerned,” US Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a New Jersey Democrat and member of the House Intelligence Committee, told CNN’s Kate Bolduan Friday. “Believe me, I’m hearing from my constituents about this all the time, and I think it’s time for them to immediately get out there and brief.”

Anyone worried this could lead to something far worse?

They're talking about it in Massachusetts too. Massport is pretty aggressive towards airborne trespassers. I think they've gotten drones shot down before.

For anyone wanting to be practicing citizen vigilance, shooting down drones is illegal as stated by the FAA. Only authorities are able to shoot them down.

Bummer, I remember when drones first became popular and Deer Trail, Colorado was seriously considering having a hunting season for them. I saw a video of a fairly innocent looking older man who shot a drone down for flying over his property. He felt he was in the right but got arrested. I guess FAA really doesnt mess around.
