I do not think people with no political experience should be in any kind of office.
Especially not as high as a role of governor or president of a state or country.

I honestly don’t care about politics but ugh I am not looking forward to this.
Everywhere you go there are people wanting you to sign to recall Gavin. Now we are going to have Kaitlyn running as well. This is going to be another crap show. By the way I live in Cali

“We don’t want Gavin but we don’t want a trans either”
Because trust me that’s how it’s going to go at least with some people.

Grandma is against because she has no political training or anything so she shouldn’t be running is what my grandma says.

I stay out of politics I don’t understand them and it’s just give me headaches. Heck I don’t even vote really.

I agree as well.

She was pro-Trump until he banned trans people from entering the military. She's anti- gay marriage. She also describes herself as "fiscally conservative", which in politic-speak means she thinks poor people are lazy and their benefits should be cut. Thats no bueno for me.
Not to mention she killed a person with her car. Gavin isn't all that great, but I will very happily vote against Caitlin Jenner.

I don't understand how those with no political experience or background can run for such an important job?

Because there are no prerequisites to run for office, which I think is ridiculous. But, we can look on the flipside of things and say people can still get jobs they don't have certification or degree in.... and they're more qualified than those who do have degrees.

It's a very fine line that we can thank the Founding Fathers for, way back in the 18th century. /snark

That is ridiculous.

I just don’t like her overall. Her views don’t align with mine and I don’t think someone will be a great governor just because they’re a celebrity (sure some are very involved and may be exceptions).

Re: Caitlin Jenner is running for California governor

It doesn't bother me that somebody without political experience might run for office. A lot of my favorite politicians had regular jobs + activism on their resumes, and I think being outside the system can actually help to bring a regular person's viewpoint and concerns to public office. Career politicians often dont have an understanding of the problems regular people face, and that can make them very disconnected from their constituents.
However, the only thing I hate more than American political culture is American celebrity culture. You wanna talk about people who are disconnected from society, the only family that I can think of thats more disconnected from normal people concerns than the Jenners/Kardashians are the Trumps. Famous for being famous, rich because their name, complete narcissists through and through. Its not to say that I'd NEVER vote for a celebrity- Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City star) ran against Andrew Cuomo for governor of New York in 2018, and I thought she was excellent on the issues I care about- but I feel like the only reason Caitlin Jenner is running for governor is because she just wants to be more famous.

Of course. Yet experience matters for a position with a considerable influence such as this one. I wonder - what reasons would you give for voting for her? You haven't listed any.

Lol I didn't mention a congressman degree in my post. I was clearly talking about experience.

Is her only thing of worth is that she's trans, or there's actually any value to her in that position? Cause as far as I know she's famous for being famoums.

You really want people like that in the government?

The fact that she is trans is going to be of notoriety, people are going to hate on the ones opposed to this... calling them TERFs, transphobic, etc. That invalidates the rightful opinions of myself and others who believe experience matters, not celebrity status.

I hate being put in position like this.

But here is the thing you aren’t in the position, really. You don’t live in Cali. I honestly only know of 2 maybe three others besides me that live in Cali for sure. It puts us in the position. But I don’t vote because I don’t understand politics.

Most likely people will not view you as a TERF for disagreeing with Kaitlyn Jenner. The majority of the LGBTQIA+ community do not like her. She is against gay marriage and has just come out saying she does not think that trans girls should be on sports teams etc. She does not support the LGBTQIA+ and her privelege (white and rich) allows her to be able to have those stances even though they harm people within the community she is part of.

If you disagree with her based on these stances or other politically motivated stances, that does not make you a TERF and very few people are going to call you a TERF.

IF you disagreed with her and made the choice to dead name her or call her by the wrong pronouns...that would make you a TERF. There are people that are doing that with Jenner and that's where my frustration is. She's a pretty awful person (for the reasons listed and for others) but we should not deadname/use the wrong pronouns.

Re: Caitlin Jenner is running for California governor

Lol she just had an interview on Hannity where she she mentioned owning a private jet and a hangar and she was sympathizing with her rich friends who were whining about homeless people. This wasn't her saying saying, "damn, we should really house these people," but instead, "I had a friend who left for Arizona because there were so many homeless people" as though homeless people are just such an inconvenience to her.
A lot of people complain about taxes in California. Caitlin Jenner is a walking advertisement as to why we should raise taxes on the rich.
