Prince Phillip

It has just been announced that Prince Phillip has passed away, age 99, at a London Hospital.

May he rest in peace.

I've just been watching this on the news this morning. I know there have always been very mixed opinions on the royals and Prince Philip, but it's a very sad story and a huge national loss. My thoughts are with the Royal family.

I only found out a little while ago and even though Prince Phillip hadn't been in the best of health recently, I still found it a bit of a shock. Thoughts are with the Royal family.

I will admit, I never really looked deeply into the royal family. I'm aware that Prince Phillip was in and out of hospital a lot for medical concerns. I think given this, and his age, it was only a matter of time. However, he's been married to the queen for 73 years. That's 73 years of life with your best friend and confidante suddenly gone. I think for the queen it will be a difficult adjustment. She's spent almost her entire life with him. I think deep down it will severely affect her, for better or for worse. And this includes the rest of the royal family.

I don't really know a whole lot about the Royal family, but it's too bad to hear about Prince Philip.

It's a long time to be with someone so I wonder that too. I do feel for her and hope she has a good support network to help her cope.

Hopefully she does have a good support around her.

The poignant scene where she sat alone in the funeral is heartbreaking to see.

There was a brief moment before The Queen walked in the chapel, she turned to her back and saw the usual figure is now gone.

It is simply hard to witness that happening to her - the amount of grief is very haunting.

I just can't help but think if people nowadays can ever love deeply enough to feel grief of losing their loved one, or are these the rare ones?

That moment was very sad.
