Why Me? Here is a safe space to let it all out, where you can rant about all the bad things life throws your way. Sometimes it just helps to ask "why me?"

One thing after the other. -
June 25th 2021, 02:31 AM
Because of the recent outbreak of Covid-19 in the state I live in, my partner and I have had to get tested as a precaution. It's been more than 24 hours and we still haven't received our results. This is causing me to be on edge and I am just so stressed out waiting for the results. I wish they would just come already.

Hello,
I am so sorry that you are waiting for this to see if you both are going to be okay. I know it is hard to try to calm yourself down, I think it would be a good idea to try doing something so that you are not thinking about this so much. Try putting on a funny movie or TV show that you both can watch or drawing or painting or grabbing a book to read for a while or baking cookies or something else that you like to do. Also try not to look up news about this because that is going to make you feel upset more. No matter what happens, just try to stay calm. I hope that you will be okay soon. Sending you to help you feel a little bit better.

That does sound frustrating, I'm sorry the results are taking so long to come back through. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that all comes back negative and you're healthy and okay.

I hope you've managed to get your results by now!
Here in the UK, depending on how the test was performed, results can take between 30 minutes to around 48 hours due to either on-the-spot testing, or having to send the kit off via the post.
Hopefully when you do get them, they'll be negative!

Thank you for all your replies.
We both did get our results back and we are both negative (thank goodness!) but because my partner was a close contact, he still has to isolate for 2 weeks and get re-tested. His results have come back negative again but he has to get a 3rd test before his 2 weeks are over. I'm OK to go about my daily business.
We have had to go into a 2 week lockdown though and can only go out for 4 reasons - essential work where we can't work from home (this is me for my full-time position and my partner when he comes out of isolation), exercising outdoors, medical care or compassionate needs and shopping for food and other essential goods and services. So I can't even see my parents for 2 weeks. Though I'm doing ok as I have been keeping myself busy, but it is only the first day of lockdown.

I'm sorry you're back in lockdown. I know it's not a nice feeling knowing you can't see the people you love again for a while, but try to focus on the fact that it's for the safety of them and everyone else, as well as yourself. Maybe you can set up some video calls or something to keep in touch while you're unable to see them in person.
I'm glad your results all came back negative and hopefully your partner will get through his isolation okay. Fingers crossed the lockdown doesn't last too long! Thinking of you

Yeah, I tell myself that it is for their safety but it still doesn't help that I miss them. It's, unfortunately, not the same as a video call.
Thank you.
