Tattoo symbolizing recovery
I have been wanting a tattoo that symbolizes my recovery and strength. Recovery from self harm, eating disorder and Child sexual abuse and my suicide attempts.
I want the phoenix bird and then I want a quote to go with it. Here are some quotes I found: "Like a phoenix, I too rise from the ashes of my own destruction." The phoenix hope, can wing her way through the desert skies, and still defying fortunes spite; revive from ashes and rise. Like the mighty phoenix, Once again I rise from the flames set to destroy me & take flight. I also want to incorporate these colors: Orange: Self injury awareness Yellow: Suicide prevention periwinkle: Supposed to symbolize eating disorders. Blue: Symbol of child abuse My questions are; are the colors I have listed right? Is there anything else I could do to incorporate these themes besides the colors? And lastly, do you know of any other good quotes about the phoenix? If not which one of these quotes do you like best? |
Re: Tattoo symbolizing recovery
Okay, scratch my earlier post. I just realized (sadly because I am slow!) that the meaning of the phoenix will already represent these things that I have struggled with so the colors are not all that important. Phoenix represents renewal and what not.
Now I am just wondering if any one has seen any good designs of the phoenix. Here are a few that I have found. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_DMsvL7sD9P...nix-Tattoo.jpg http://www.amitbhawani.com/tattoo/Im...ictures-11.jpg http://vicariousrising.typepad.com/p...reozili-pi.jpg I like all of these. The first one seems to be missing something but I cannot think what. The other two are missing the flames which is an aspect I really want. Flying free of the flames. Any suggestions or does anyone know of better ones? This is really just to get in idea. Nothing is set in stone. And I know I can take these ideas into the tattoo artist and they will help me figure it out but just thought I would get more ideas on here. And lastly, I was thinking of getting this tattoo either on my upper back or lower back which do you think would look better? |

Re: Tattoo symbolizing recovery
I was actually looking on google and I found this:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_UDKqIE9PyX...x+Tattoo+5.jpg I like the area that the girl has it. Although I might move it a little more into the back. The tattoo isn't bad either but I think I want something with a tiny bit more color like the ones kitty and elle showed me. Although, I like the second one that Elle showed me best. I also decided that I want the tail to be 'intricate' like these ones. I was thinking the tail could maybe go onto my hip bone like in this picture above kind of. I don't know. When I have the money saved I will go in and talk to an artist. Thanks for your help everyone. I really liked the images that I saw. I will print these out one day and show them to the artist so that he/she will have an idea of what I want. I am getting pretty excited about this. I know it will cost me a bit of money but I am willing to waste it. And brother says he knows someone that works in a shop and does really good work. Someone who will give me a discount. So, we shall see. When I get it done I might post it. Although, it will totally show you all how fat I am. But whatever it is something I want! :) |
