Tattoo For My Grandma -
February 9th 2010, 04:52 AM
I really love my grandma and she was a huge influence on my life... I was thinking that when she goes, or before.. I want a very small tattoo with her name. Lola.
Do you think that would be alright?

Its your body, if you like the idea. Then go for it. I'm not that keen on having just words with nothing surrounding it. Like a small flowery boarder or something. To be honest, I'm not too keen on name tattoos at all. But once again, if you like the idea then go for it.
Perhaps there is something else you could get that reminds you of her? Say she liked...birds, then you could get a bird. Its meaningful to you, and still beautiful to the rest of the world.
Think about it.
Always think about a tattoo for at least a month before getting it done.

I think its a good idea... With names you have to be careful, but there's no chance at all this wont mean something to you any amount of years... It will always be special and important, so I say go for it

I think that's a beautiful idea. Where were you thinking of getting it done?

I don't like color tattoos. I only would get a tattoo with words. So I'd get a beautiful black calligraphy somewhere above my ankle. It will just say "Lola." It's funny because she absolutely loves hummingbirds, but I just want put something I don't like on my body. I don't want something like everyone else has. Everyone and their mom has an animal tattoo.

Yeah, that's a good point. But my grandma isn't really ever going to be gone. She was a huge part of my life. If It wasn't for her, I really don't know where I would be. I want to remember her somehow, so she's never really gone.

I once heard a story where a girl got a tattoo for her Dad who had passed away. She found an old handwritten letter from him that ended "Love always, Dad" and she got that tattooed on her in her Dad's hand writing.
Just and idea, you could get your Grandma to write her name down on a piece of paper and get it tattooed in her hand writing. (I suppose it depends on her hand writing neatness and size though.)
I just think that is a really cute idea. I am currently looking for tattoo ideas for my Nan and Grandad and I am finding it difficult to find a tattoo that combines the 2 of them.

I think it is up to you when you get it.
If you get it now she will be able to see it and I think that would be nice.
If you get it after it can be a big help in the grieving process and people usually get memorial tattoos to help with closure.
So I think whenever you get it will be lovely so it is up to you.
