Quote above the tattoo? -
August 17th 2009, 01:50 AM
Some of you may have read my previous post, asking advice on the tattoo I want. I havent gotten it yet because I have been extremely busy this summer but since everything is starting to slow down, I'm developing more time to get it done.
I've officially decided on most of what I want. The dad/daughter holding hands is the biggest thing, also debating on putting a lightly shaded heart in the background. But instead of putting RIP HMG, I've decided on just HMG under it. But recently, I've been thinking about putting some short quote (I'd prefer in a different language). My friends sister has the words "Alis Grave Nil" above her tattoo of a friend that passed away which means "nothing is heavy to those who have wings". I looove that but I'm not sure how to pronounce it & I dont want to seem to copy her friend. So I was wondering if you all have any ideas of a quote such as that? Or if you think I should leave out the quote altogether?
All help is greatly appreciated. Also, I'd appreciate it if you all helped decide on a font for all the writing.
^ this is the picture of the tattoo that I am planning on getting if you haven't seen it before.
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.
rest in peace daddy,
i love you & miss you so much.
taken.
It doesn't matter if the guy is perfect or the girl is perfect, as long as they are perfect for each other.

Soo, this tattoo seems really beautiful, and I look forward to maybe seeing a picture when you get it? I think the heart would be a great idea, if you can make it work within what you already have planned.
As for a quote. I really don't feel right giving you what will be on your tattoo. I am a big advocate for that stuff coming directly from the heart. Try it, see what happens. If you can't come up with something on your own, Try stuff likee:
- Something he used to say a lot, or maybe a nickname he had for you.
- Maybe a quote from a song, that fits how you feel or maybe just one he really liked.
- A quote from a piece of writing (novel, poem, religious text) something deep and well thought out.
Best of luck to you, I really hope this turns out amazing!

Thank you Dylan. I will post pics as soon as I get them. But I'll probably wait a few days bc I'm sure it will have to heal a bit to look good haha. This is my first tattoo
I respect you dont like giving ideas on my tattoo, and I have been thinking about "Daddys Little Girl" bc I'm the 2nd child & last child but I am also the only girl. Everyone says I will always be a daddys little girl bc I was when he was alive.
Do you think that will be too long though?
& thank you Monster, I like both of those quotes but they dont really seem like me or my father & I definitely like the Lucida Calligraphy (if thats what you were talking about?). Its elegant but very simple.
