My first tattoo!! -
June 20th 2016, 10:22 PM
So, my mom is taking me to get my first tattoo for my birthday in August So I drew these up and I'm leaning towards getting SURV;VOR, I was thinking of getting it on my inner forearm? Any tips or ideas? And if it helps, I'm turning 16 soo yup. I'm really excited...even though I'm squeamish around needles

Hi Lynn,
Both are really cool! I had never had a tattoo before (other than those washable peel ons and airbrush) but I am guessing that when you book an appointment you will have the chance to ask any questions you may have. Hope it goes well. :3 And happy be-earlied birthday :P

Hey there!
I have already planned out the exact font and position of all the tattoos I dream of on my body, but I won't be able to get them until my 18th birthday, so I'm really jealous and I understand your excitement
From what I have heard inner forearm tattoos are pretty much painless compared to the elbow, ribs or chest and this should be a good place to start in case it won't be your only tattoo (it sounds like it won't ). The survivor one looks really cool and unique and please show us and let me know how it went!

Your mom is so cool! I really like the "survivor" one. I got my first tattoo earlier this year! You'll be able to ask many questions before and it is a very calming atmosphere. Be careful because you may want more, I know I do lol Remember to tip your artist! Have fun getting inked! Welcome to the club hehe

You need to know the exact font that you want it in. Once you find the right font, print out the word in generally the size you want it to be. This will save a lot of time! Generally with words, smaller looks better. Lots of black ink can look a little intense. And when you have a visible tattoo, like one on a forearm, you don't want to look too intimidating. Always think about future jobs!
A tattoo machine has three or more needles on it at one time. You can look at that link to see what they look like. It will hurt, but I think a small, meaningful tattoo will be worth it. Best of luck!

Actually, I really want this to stand out, I'm proud of its meaning, and if you don't know what the ; means, look up the semicolon project. So I'm proud of myself ^-^

I do know what it means, but I just want you to keep in mind that employers will not care what the meaning is, all they will see is a tattoo. And I know it can be difficult to try to see in to the future and think about all the possible employment opportunities you might want to explore. However, this will be on your body forever and its a serious decision. Do you maybe have an idea on how large you want this to be? And where on your forearm you want it to go? It is very popular to get words written on the wrist, or a small line on the inside of the forearm. Any decisions yet?

Lizzie is right, you do need to always think ahead about any consequences for anything you decide to do. Tattoos are certainly one of them. I have a big tattoo on my forearm and I've had to keep it covered at jobs which can be a pain, especially during the summer. I highly recommend getting your first tattoo somewhere that isn't publicly visible, maybe the back of your shoulder or your ankle. I got my first tattoo at 16 and I got mine in an invisible place and I waited to get more visible ones until I was employed because it's typically retail that cares if you keep it covered the most.
And here you are living, despite it all.
