How much does a tattoo cost?
1 Attachment(s)
A small one?
I've been wanting a small one exactly like the one in the attachment for ages. I have about thirty-five bucks left (actually, I have about $535 bucks, but I'm trying to save the $500 from my apple pie contest winnings for my Appalachian Trail hike). My aunt and cousin always get tattoos, and I thought about seeing if they could take me to get my first one, if my mom signs a permission form or something so I can get it. I'm seventeen, and I distinctly remember her telling me once before that if I have enough money to get it myself, I can get a tattoo. I've been wanting this one for ages. Discipline is something that's really important to me - the Greek word signifies its role in my religion (Hellenismos). Now, I'm going to probably work the word into something of a seal involving a wreath of laurels (another symbol of my religion). I'd like to either get it on the inside of my wrist. Thus, it'll be pretty small by virtue of its positioning. Anyway, besides the fact that I wanted to know how much to expect it to cost, I just wanted to show off my idea. I'm super excited. :D |
Re: How much does a tattoo cost?
I'd check your state laws before going. I know here it's illegal to get them done before the age of 18 now. So, even if had parent who would sign for you, still could not get it.
Mine is only about 2 inches height & width; and cost my $40. And is a little below the wrist on my forearm, so I can imagine it'd be around there. |
Re: How much does a tattoo cost?
I don't have any tattoos, so I may be wrong, but I think it depends on the design of the tattoo & how long it'll take. Like a quote is going to cost cheaper than a design that needs to be colored in at another time. You could probably contact the tattoo places you're considering & they might be able to give you an estimate.

Re: How much does a tattoo cost?
It depends on the artist and the size. I am guessing if you only want one that's a few inches about $50, but also remember that doesn't include a tip.

Re: How much does a tattoo cost?
The tattooist I go to charges £60 an hour. Dunno what that equates to in $ though...

Re: How much does a tattoo cost?
Well. From what I hear, if you get a "MOM" tattoo on your butt, you get free tattoos of anything almost anywhere, anyplace.(if not everywhere). Don't ask how I heard this, but that's just the rumor.

Re: How much does a tattoo cost?
The price of a tattoo depends on the artist and/or the shop, the size, and whether or not it's in color. It is very unlikely you will be able to get a quality tattoo for thirty-five dollars. Most shops have a minimum price, and from my experience that's about $60, but you will need to check locally. Keep in mind that, most likely, they will not be able to do your tattoo that small. The reason is that over time the ink in the skin spreads, so if it is that small the letters will become illegible or blur together. They may want to make it bigger, which will increase the price. One like that probably won't run you too high, but it will almost certainly be more than thirty-five dollars.
Also, keep in mind that you will need to tip your artist. The going rule is that you tip a tattoo artist 20% or higher. So if your tattoo cost $100, for example, you would need to give them $120. |
