I love the picture of the hands, I think they're really beautiful.
If you're worried about it being too cluttered why don't you consider removing one element of the tattoo? Maybe the wings?
But I think that it would be fine with the wings if you decided to keep them, if you talk to the tattoo artist about it I'm sure they could throw in a couple of ideas and try a couple of different sketches until you find one that you really like, don't get anything done if it's not the image that you're looking for, remember you have to live with the final tattoo so don't get anything that isn't just what you want (:

Having the tattoo somewhere where it can be covered up is a really sensible idea! Your shoulder blade sounds perfect and I think it would look lovely, the back of your neck is awesome, but It would be pretty hard to keep it covered up?

In the end it's up to you, I'm sure you'll make an excellent choice about your tattoo. (:

Hey there! First off, welcome!
Second, I really like the idea of the hands. I'd remove the wings though, and just get RIP HMG in pretty handwriting or something; Cursive, maybe. I really like the idea of getting your tattoo on your shoulder blade. That's where I got my first one. :]

& also thank you, I came up with the hands thing on my own haha. Kinda surprised myself.

I've talked to my older brother who has about 9 tattoos & he said since I am leaning more towards putting it on my shoulder that I should get a faint heart in the background & put the hands at an angle, so it seems like the daughter & father are walking.

Any comments or ideas to that?

I love the idea of putting it at an angle as if they are walking, I love that.
If you're worried about it being too cluttered I wouldn't get the heart, just keep it simple with the hands and the writing.
but either way I think it would look amazing.

Thanks, I'm still trying to decide about anything extra. I kind of want a heart in the background but I'm not sure. I dont want it to be huge because one, I'll be 16 year old female with a huge tattoo haha & two, I'm small anyways so the tattoo doesn't need to cover my whole shoulder.

Any other comments?
& I'm thinking about Amienne or Lucida Calligraphy font.
I want something thats not plain but not fancy to the point that it would be difficult to do.

I love the Lucida calligraphy font, I think that would look awesome.

I'd say that if it's going to be a small-ish tattoo to keep it simple, but again it's up to you and I'm sure it will look absolutely beautiful either way.

I love the idea of the hands being at angle. I don't think it will look cluttered at all. I think it should be pretty small though, like smaller than the palm of your hand. Just a suggestion

I'm still deciding about the font. My brother is going to get one of his friends that is a tattoo artist to draw something up for me I think, or I hope lol.

I'll post it on here whenever he draws it up :).

ANSWER;
Yes, it does have significance. I was 7 when my dad passed away so I was very small, so were my hands. & I never got a chance to hold my dads hand at any other time other than when they were small. Plus, I'd always smile (which made him glow:D) at the size difference of my hand & his. So, no more questions about why does it have to be hands like that :| thanks.

My dad passed away from stomach cancer & the ribbon color for that is periwinkle blue, do you all think I should shade the heart lightly with periwinkle blue?

HAve you found a tattooist yet?
It might be a good idea to find a good and experienced tattooist that you trust. You could talk your ideas through with them and they can give you advice on what they think would be best. Tattooists do tattoos all the time (obv : P) and know what they are doing and what will/will not work.

xHolyValorx, I'm not getting the wings but I am planning on getting a heart behind the hands, I think. Not trying to be smart but I've never seen the hands that I'm planning on getting. Did you look at the picture? What would you suggest since you arent fond of this idea?

Cullen, no not yet--planning on it maybe next weekend though. My brother is going to talk to his friend that did his tattoos & see :)
