Headphones on my iMac no longer work - February 23rd 2015, 06:13 PM

I plugged in my headphones into my iMac (21.5 mid-2011 model) last night and no sound was coming out of them. I pulled them back out and back in and they still weren't working. I thought maybe those headphones had broken so I plugged in my other pair, still nothing. I tried them both on my iPod and laptop and they both worked fine.

Why is this? :| The speakers on my mac work just fine.

Have you tried checking the sound settings? I had a similar problem on my macbook pro and I went into the sound settings and that seemed to fix the problem as I hadn't had the same issue since then.

YES! Thank you was playing about with my settings and for some reason I was using "BoomDevice" for the sound output when headphones were plugged in. I've had Boom installed for a while and that had never happened before, weeeird.

Since the op's issue seems to have been solved, I am going to go a head and close this thread. If you would like this thread to be opened again, send me a pm and I will be more than happy to reopen this thread.
