___ of the week.

I've realised that most of my favourite TV shows follow the format of "[thing] of the week", where each episode is kind of self-contained but there's also longer-running plots for each season. For example monster of the week for fantasy, case of the week for medical dramas, etc. I think with the way my brain works it's just easier to stay interested if there's a payoff at the end of most episodes and at the end of the season, rather than trying to keep track of several season-long arcs that take multiple episodes to resolve. Hopefully I've explained that well, if not feel free to ask for elaboration. :nosweat:

Anyway, my question is: what are some of your favourite shows that follow this format? Any genre is welcome, although I do have a soft spot for fantasy. Feel free to add in what the show's about and/or why you love it!

I've felt this exact way about some shows before! The best example of me would have to be Supernatural, which I used to watch religiously back when it was in the early seasons. I stopped watching it when the seasons became a series-long plot rather than fun smaller plots along the way. It's also one of the things I love about Doctor Who :hehe:

I think a lot of the shows I grew really attached do as a teenager were formatted like that.
