Best vacation ever?
What was the best vacation you've ever been on? Why was it the best, what did you do there?
I can't decide what was the best vacation I've ever been on because my memory is so bad due to ADHD and years of depression. I would probably have to say maybe Europe? It was the first time I left North America, traveled across the Atlantic, and been to the place where some of my recent ancestors came from. There's just something so incredibly romantic about being in that part of Europe, and I'd love to go back there! :hehe: |
Re: Best vacation ever?
I went to Florida with a friend. I saw my sister and niece, did a few other activities like the zoo and the Kennedy Space Center, and went to Disney for the first time!

For me that would be, South Dakota, I feed a baby bear honey and it was the coolest thing ever because bears are my favorite animal.

There are a fair few vacations that I've been on with each of them allowing me to do first time things.

I went to London, that was pretty cool

I want to Rimini. Eight hours of car, but at the end was entirely worth it. Just only a week of vacation at the beach, but was the best without any doubt.

Re: Best vacation ever?
I didn't realize how many incredible vacations I've been on until now...and now I can't choose. XD Here are some of my favorites:
-Both trips to Germany (2004 and 2008). I don't have a lot of memories of those trips because I was a kid, but I did get to see my mom's hometown, spend time with her parents and siblings who all still live there, and see some amazing landmarks. -The Grand Circle Tour (2009, I believe?). There is so much beauty in this country. -Both trips to Hawaii (Kauai and Oahu in 2012, Maui in 2021). One of my closest friends and I went in 2012 to celebrate graduating from high school. We went back in 2021, where I got to stand beside her as the maid of honor at her wedding. -Chicago (2015). My favorite city in the world and this trip was particularly special for a number of reasons. |

There’s two best vacations for me. One being Pompeii - it was really interesting, I am not the sort who likes lounging by a pool etc I prefer site seeing type holidays/vacations . Pompeii was really good from a historical point of view , and I would love to go back and visit again as there’s Like so much to take in and absorb. Plus they are like always excavating Pompeii and discovering more and more hidden gems etc. I also learnt a lot.
The other vacation I really liked was the Lake District in Cumbria it was really picturesque and a place that I feel has so much more to offer again I would love to return to see more of the Lake District. |

Canada for meee. Did a road trip from Buffalo, NY all the way up to Mont Tremblant in Quebec. Met some amazing people along the way, started the trip with too many buffalo wings, saw Niagara Falls, saw the ski lifts out of season, and learnt a bit of French. Amazing :)

Re: Best vacation ever?
the best vacation mom and dad took me on was a camping trip
i remember that i really didnt want to go at first because they wouldnt let me bring my switch they said that camping is about getting away from technology and i had a hissy fit over it (i was like 7 at the time) i remember even arguing on the way up because we just had dads truck but other people had those big campers with showers and radios and stuff "oh so they get technology but we dont huh" you know childish things like that and i remember not wanting to put up a tent and not wanting to use the outhouse and begging to just go back home and then night came and i saw stars not like a couple you normally see at home im talking like there were billions and it was so bright outside and the air was so cold and so heavy and thick and i felt so impossibly small and alone until my parents took my hands and i couldnt complain anymore because i think i got it its kinda wierd maybe i cant explain it well but sometimes being able to text my friends whenever i want to makes them seem like they arent all that important because there always there but being away from my phone and realizing just how big the universe is i realized how important my friends and family are because without a phone 50 miles might as well be 50 million miles and thats why people are so important because its cold and heavy out there by yourself but a parents or a friends hand is always gonna be warm and comferting thanks for listening to my ted talk |
Re: Best vacation ever?
Days 1-14: visit all the islands of Hawaii and several of the hiking trails.
Day 15: establish a residency there (it can't be perfect if I have to leave, now can it?) It is a pipe dream for now, but if I ever win the powerball.... An alternative to Hawaii would be Thailand. Much cheaper. If you think Miami has a tropical climate (which it does), then Thailand is like Miami's summer even in what would be the winter. There is a reason much of our coconut water produced in the world is from Thailand. Coconuts grow in Florida, but are not native. I love seeing coconut palms grow in their natural habitat. Have done enough cruises. I like the jungle type of tropical more than the island type(btw, Hawaii has both so that is why I put it first). Thailand is one place where I can feel the tropical humidity just from a photograph. Also, Borneo. Would love to see some wild Orangutans in a jungle. Id also like to check out Manaus and the Amazon rainforest. Tropical rainforest is beautiful. Wish I could live there in Brazil. Singapore is not on the list. Too many laws...can't even chew gum there. Don't really have any desire to go to northern locations. The cold reduces biodiversity and one hectare of tropical jungle contains more species than all of Europe.I will probably never travel to the UK in particular. Least interesting western European country in my opinion (sorry). And since we are dreaming, may as well go big. How about visiting a super-Earth with a globally warm tropical(subtropical at poles) climate. I wonder what the equivalent of palm trees and jungle would be on a planet more suited than our own for life. Would be interesting to see the weather too |
