University vs dog - June 22nd 2020, 01:31 AM

So I’m moving and my parents told me that since I’ll be at a CSU next yearish, I was to find my dog a temporary home and get her when I move out. We were on thin ice for having three dogs in the new home and four was too much.

This would be fine if there was a 100% chance if I was going to get in to the State Uni in my town, since I was told I just needed to hold a job for a year. But the acceptance rate it 72% and I have back up schools out of town, hours away.

Dorms in California don’t allow non service dogs and I figured it would be really hard to get an apartment in a town I don’t know, especially if I haven’t worked there. I could leave her for another year, but it could be hard to find her a temporary home.

I don’t know what to do? Is it possible to get an apartment in another town without working there for a year? It’s seems like some people do it, but idk how

Hi there,

Firstly, I would like to say it's an amazing thing what you're doing and that you are prepared to look after your service dog. I don't have much advice to give but the only thing I can say is to take as much time as you can to look around to ensure you and your dog will be comfortable and that you won't be breaking any rules. Asking around might also help with finding the right place.
