Things not panning out. -
March 18th 2020, 08:13 AM
Because of Coronavirus, two potential job opportunities cancelled on me today due to it being in the hospitality industry. One was a trial for a casual supervisors position which is what I really wanted and the other was an interview for a casual bar position. Both cancelled due to the new laws that have been imposed today as gatherings of 100 are banned inside. They don't want to risk employing new staff due to potentially closing of businesses. However the only positive thing that came out of today is a possible volunteer position at an animal shelter which will then allow me to study an animal course in the future.
I just feel like things are panning out for me recently...

Hey there,
I'm so, so sorry to hear about your job opportunities getting cancelled. I know that this is an uncertain time for everyone and wish I could offer more reassurance. I'm so glad to hear that you have found a volunteer position that will open some doors for you in the future, though.
I definitely wish there was a way of knowing for sure what the future holds for us. I know that we will get through, but it is very hard in the meantime. I hope that you will take good care of yourself. Let us know how we can best support you through this.
Truly wishing you all the best,
Kylie

Hello,
I am so sorry that you are going through this right now and hope that you will be okay soon. A lot of people are scared, upset about people getting sick and they want to shut everything down to fix this. When you have job interviews and you are happy to go for them and they cancel on you because of what's going on, it is hard to be okay with this. Hopefully after all of this is over they will still call you up for the spot. I hope that you will be okay soon. Try to find something to get you're mind off of this if you can. Reading or writing or painting or calling a friend or putting on music or funny TV shows or movies or something else that you enjoy doing. Hugs to help you.

Thank you for your replies. I'm not too concerned because I do have a job and the centre is open for now but I just wish to find a different career path. In regards to the volunteer position, I've returned the form in which the manager had sent me and I'm just waiting for a response as to whether they will call me in for an interview.

Ah, yeah, that coronavirus sure is messing things up for a lot of people around the world. Perhaps when things begin to go back to normal, whenever that may be, you could reach out to those businesses and see if they still have that job available? I can't imagine why they would just dismiss you with all this going on.
Wishing you the best of luck.

Sorry to hear things haven't worked out regarding the jobs because of coronavirus. But it's good that you've got the volunteering at an animal shelter- sounds great! Also, I agree with Serendipity that you can contact them once things have eased up with the coronavirus- I'm sure they'll be looking for staff then!

Thank you for your reply.
I haven't heard anything in regards to the volunteer position unfortunately so I am going to get in contact with them soon if I haven't heard anything.
