red hair and school

Hi

My school (in the uk and a secondary) only allows natural coloured hair. I've dyed my hair red and its come out a darker red than intended. So my questions are:

Can my school force my to dye it more natural?

How long should I wait to dye it again?

Can they suspend me?

I go back on tuesday and these questions crossed my mind. Help is greatfully appreciated

Your school will have its own behaviour and uniform policies, which I suggest you look up. A school - at the direction of the headteacher - is permitted by Department for Education to send a pupil home if they do not adhere to school uniform policy, but this is considered an "authorised absence" from school within a reasonable timeframe for the pupil to change it. So basically, however long is reasonable for you to be expected to go and get your hair dyed a natural colour. If you don't change it to comply with the policy within a reasonable timeframe, the school can ask you to go home again but will be allowed to mark it down as an "unauthorised absence". I can't tell you much about how long you might like to wait to dye it again (I really don't know), but if possible I think you should try to comply with your school's uniform policy (even if it's annoying to have to dye it again) before you go back. Also make sure you check who the person to talk about uniform is at your school, and maybe consider going to them Monday morning with a note from a parent explaining the situation if you're unable to dye it before then, and see what they say. Hopefully, if you're polite, apologetic and cooperative, there'll be absolutely no need from their point of view to discipline you - or at least, they'll do their best to make allowances for you in complying with the policy, rather than enforcing it as strictly as they would if you go in defensively!
Being proactive about it will probably make them more receptive to you, so that's what I'd recommend for you.
