I Might Have Generalised Anxiety??? - July 30th 2017, 12:35 PM

I've taken quizzes based on the DHMS model (???) and always gotten the same result of 90%. Are there any suggestions besides the usual "school counsellor, close peeps, centres" comments? There are a lot of things in my life getting in the way of getting conventional help and it would take all day to explain them individually. It would also be nice to hear any stories you're willing to share if you have been diagnosed with generalised anxiety.

I'm not familiar with what quiz you took; if it's online then I can only suggest to you that it may not be accurate at all. IF you experience that level of anxiety on that bias daily then that's the most effective way to determine if you have it, really.

But that said, you want advise in different ways well all I could say is, investigate. Work out what the triggering points are, if any, and put alot of effort into fighting out a diagnosis for generalized anxiety.

Okay, thank you. I'll try to make a list of what makes me tick.

I found some free beginning treatment for it in my gmail from a quiz I took anyway, so that and the list I make should do for now.

It's good to have self-awareness of what might be troubling you, and do some research/take quizzes regarding anxiety. There's also nothing wrong with self-help like learning breathing techniques, ensuring you live a healthy life style (sleep, exercise etc), finding out what triggers you and challenging negative thoughts. You may want to try looking for CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) self-help programmes and see if they help at all. I'm unfamiliar with DHMS but hope that it helps you anyway!

That said, self-diagnosing is never a good idea and only a professional (doctor, psychiatrist or psychologist) can diagnose you. Despite obstacles, it can sometimes be more beneficial to work with a counsellor, even without a diagnosis. Feel free to tell us about what kind of issues you are facing when trying to get help for anxiety!
