"demonical anxiety"? - October 27th 2015, 03:23 AM

I'm honestly not quite sure whether to put this in religion or anxiety. But I really need somebody to help me try to understand this. My friend, who recently found out I have anxiety and that I self-harm, told me on Sunday that God told her I have "demonical anxiety". Has anybody heard of this? She explained it some, but I'm really confused. She told me demonical anxiety is anxiety, with no reason for it. I'd just like to know if anybody has heard of this supposed disorder and if so, maybe try to explain further. Because I thought regular anxiety also might not have a reason.... So yeah.

Hi Brianna,

I do not believe you would have demonic anxiety. Demonic anxiety would involve you being posessed by a demon and them being the source of your anxiety. I did a quick search on google and I caould not find any information about this being a disorder.
I found a lot about demon possession but that is not what you are experiencing.
Anyone can have anxiety for a large variety of reasons. None of these reasons have to be fully understood. Sometimems I feel anxious and I do not quite understand why.
It would be best for you to talk to your therapist/counselor about this. In regards to the demonic aspect, could you speak with a religious leader from your church for guidance?
It is always best when you hear something from someone to see what you can find out from people around you about what you are being told in regards to how accurate the information is.
I hope this helps you some and you can PM me if you would like to talk farther.
Take care.

See, that was my thinking. My friend comes up with weird things like that all the time, and when I Google them, nothing comes up. So I was just wondering if that is even a real thing. So I posted that on here to see if it is even real. I didn't think I had it, I just wanted to know if this was another one of my friend's odd diagnoses for things.

I agree with Christina. It's not something I have heard of, or could find online. If anything, it's probably more to do with your friend's religion and religious beliefs as opposed to being an actual disorder. Though it's always best to get a professional opinion, if you haven't already been diagnosed.
