TW://Bullying, SH, Suicide Attempt, inpatient/outpatient stays, body insecurities, ED

Okay,
can somebody tell me why every corner I turn there is SOMEONE shit talking me?
I'm in 7th grade, and very different from people.
I'm LGBTQIA+, Neurodivergent, A Therian, Feminist, and Eco-Activist.
People in my school are..."rich snobs" as people would say.
I...am poor.
People at my school are constantly bullying me cause of my financial class and my identity.
People at my school can by things from sephora, gucci, etc. and think everyone else can.
I've never been that way.
I can't.
And they make me feel worthless and insecure about it.
Because of this, my mental health isn't the best.
People constantly tell me I'm "smelly" or "overweight".
This has happened all my life...
I'm starting to wonder am I the problem?
Did I set myself up for this?
Am I meant for this?
What is wrong with me?
I wonder...
They caused me to SH, attempt suicide, become insecure of my body, starve myself, etc.
I literally had to go inpatient/outpatient because of this.
I'm soon going to another outpatient program.
I hate it.
But I wonder...
Is this...
My.
Fault.
?

Hi Madison,

Being bullied is an extremely difficult thing to go through and I'm sorry that you're experiencing it to such an extent.

It definitely isn't your fault that this is happening. One of the main reasons bully others is because of their own insecurities. Even if they aren't insecure about the specific things they're bullying you about, bullies often have deeply rooted insecurities about something in their own life. Unfortunately, this can cause them to feel like the only way to combat it is to be mean and bring other people down.

One of the best ways to discourage bullies is to ignore them. Most of the time, bullies are looking for some sort of reaction. When they don't get that reaction, they will likely become bored and move on. You can also consider telling a teacher or other school staff, as they will be able to take disciplinary action against the bullies. Being open in your outpatient program about what you're experiencing may also be helpful, as others in the program probably have shared experiences. This can help you feel less alone and they may be able to give you suggestions about how to handle it.

Please remember that there is nothing wrong with who you are. Perhaps you can try repeating positive affirmations to yourself to remind you of your worth. It may feel silly at first, but over time, it can really start to change your mindset and your views of yourself.

If you'd like to talk about this more, please don't hesitate to reply to this thread or send me a PM. We're all here for you!

Take care,
Sam

Hey, I was bullied when I was in high school, I am also neuro-divergent ( I have adhd and autism aswell as a few others)
It's not your fault that you are being bullied, the thing with bullying is that the person or people bullying you no matter how you are, whether you can afford designer clothes etc, they will always find something, and thats not your fault. you could have all the designer clothes in the world and they would still find something to bully you about, that isn't because theres something wrong with you but more because the people who are bullying you are most likely insecure about themselves and in order for them to feel better they have to pick on and bully someone else.
I never had designer clothes etc growing up etc, in my experience they realised there was something 'different' about me and used that as a reason to bully me etc.

Is there a teacher, tutor or friend or school counsellor who you could talk to about this?

Hey, it might be worth asking the teacher if you could have a little chat with them in private after class/tutor group/registration. Your teacher will be able to then talk to those involved and hopefully help to stop the bullying etc, schools take bullying quite seriously and will hopefully be able to deal with the bullies etc

I'm sorry about what is happening and I hope that you will be okay soon and you are able to talk to someone at school to have this stopped.
