Hello everyone,
The holidays are here and we'd like to take some time to emphasize the importance of self care. It's around this time that it can be easy to get caught up in the excitement of the holidays, and a hectic rush that seems to take over our lives. It's then that we forget that it's okay to take time for ourselves too.
The holidays can be an exciting time for many of us but they can also be difficult, with stress and feelings of loneliness amplified. We focus a lot on giving gifts, spending time with others and pleasing everyone else, but we have to remember to take a step back, take care of ourselves and do what we want during this time of the year.
If you have holiday events to attend but are worried about toxic people you might have to be around it's a great idea to take some time, weigh the pros and cons of attending and do what's best for you. Don't let people pressure you into doing things you do not want to do or things that might be upsetting. Give yourself permission to say no to any and all events if it would be healthier for you.
Spend time in your own happy place, whether that's with friends and family, or at home in your pyjamas with a good book, it's your choice how you spend it.
We here at TeenHelp want to take this time to wish you happy holidays and to let you know that we are here to support you if you need it this holiday season. Let 2019 be a year of being mindful of your health and needs.
