I'm currently working my way through the tales of the city series by Armistead Maupin. I feel really sad that I never got to see san francisco in the 1980's.
On a slightly more highbrow note I am also reading Ulysses by James Joyces and am being forced into reading Middlemarch and the woman in white by my mother.

Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones.
I'm reading a lot of younger kid novels right now. It's hard to find good ones, but this one isn't half bad
