"The Uglies's" series, but I cried at the last book.  I don't recommend it, although the point of the books are good. Yeah, i just cried and wanted to throw the book at a wall at the end... They are also kind of monatanous until the end, and can be hard to follow unless you read all three books in the trilogy.

1984, and The Courtesan And The Samurai, which is sorta pornish in places, but that's to be expected as the main character is a prostitute. Still a good book though
