TH Book Club books - January 12th 2021, 10:17 AM

Hello all,

I am wondering what books you would like to see introduced in book club?

Are there certain genres you would like to see or themes? You can also give book ideas if you have them.

I'm asking because genre ideas would help me come up with books to suggest.

Thank you!

• I like YA books, but that are not loaded heavily with romance.

• I like books that have historical elements but are still fiction.

• I'm not too keen on fantasy, sci-fi, supernatural, magic, etc.

• I also enjoy reading memoirs and biographies of significant people.

• I know this isn't exactly literature, but I enjoy poetry collections.

YA:

Contemporary:

The Hate U Give
Concrete Rose
On The Come up
Black Kids
You should see me in my crown
Stay Gold
Felix Ever After

Fantasy:

Ember in the Ashes
Song of Wraiths and Ruins
Children of Blood and Bone
Cemetery Boys...I don't know that it's fantasy but I know there's a ghost and a trans main character. It's supposed to be good.

Sci-fi

Sound of Stars

Historical FictionL

Fountains of Silence
The Book Thief
Salt to the Sea
Between Shades of Grey
A night Divided
Words on Fire

Horror:

Clown in the Cornfield
Horrid
Hide and Seeker - More Middle Grade

Adult

Atomic Love
Night Tiger
Washington Black
Henna Artist
Anxious People
Bear Town (TW for rape but it's a minor scene but mostly deals with the after affects powerful and important)

I have read some of these but have not read all of them. That being said, it is possible that some of these books will have triggers. Since I haven't read them and I cannot only suggest books I have read (I read a lot but it would still limit suggestions), people that join in the read will have to make a decision about if they should read and also make the decision about if they should continue if a trigger pops up.

There is nothing wrong with choosing not to finish a book. The book club is supposed to be for fun, encourage reading and introduce people to more books.
